Our official family holiday is Turek Day and it takes place on October 1st. This holiday has stayed the same each year while also evolving. It usually involves the letter T. Last year, we did tricks and treats all day. It was a huge hit but this year the entertainment theme in our family seems to be all things Harry Potter. I was trying to decide how to incorporate something that starts with a T from Harry Potter. I decided on a Tri-wizard tournament! :-)
Both boys helped brainstorm T ideas this year. We had raisin toast for breakfast.
We built a cookie treat; it was a Hogwarts/Halloween mansion.
The first tri-wizard obstacle was to test courage by eating Bertie Botts every flavor beans. This game is disgusting but Nathan is fearless!
We completed the second obstacle in the tournament by having to find lost stuffed animals. They boys enjoyed the indoor hide and seek especially since we used the newly acquired Harry Potter and Hermione.
We then had the final obstacle which was the maze. I found Harry Potter Maze online for a steal so it was necessary. It was actually the game Sorry just Harry Potter themed. This game had everyone laughing and sometimes crying. Sorry is well Sorry...
Then we needed to cool off with an outdoor obstacle maze. Water balloons divided up in Harry Potter colors were a huge hit.
We ended the evening with Chocolate frogs just like in Harry Potter or toads as we called them for the purposes of Turek day. We also drank butter beer. All things Harry Potter for the day. We stuck true to past Turek Days with Timed lists of everything we love about each other. Timed lists describing everyone's talents. Of course, a lesson on temples and a dinner of tacos! No one wanted to wear ties this year. Joshua used to enjoy being so dressy. :-)
