The boys earned these fun things called Bunchems. They are awesome and not messy so everyone is winning in this craft. The boys were excited that their cars had made it around the track again so it was time for a homeschool treat! Each boy has a car that moves forward and backwards depending on the choices made. As the car makes it around the track, Joshua or Nathan picks a book, a craft, or some other reward for school.
Joshua finished the second grade Language Arts curriculum! He loves to read so this program was a breeze for him. It is exciting to see how much he has learned already. This program incorporates geography, art, and classic literature.
Nathan still gets to do his favorite school work, Chick-Fil-A storytime with free treats!
Julia came to play and took Nathan on his own adventure. It was great fun for him. I was babysitting some kids that are closer to Joshua's age. Although the boys are best friends, they both liked the time apart.
Julia cut her trip short because we had a hurricane coming straight at us and it would then be traveling the exact route she needed to drive home. It was only a category one but it was our very first hurricane living on the gulf. We took a direct hit but honestly we've had thunderstorms that were much scarier. We had a full weekend planned previously and I had actually been quite overwhelmed. We had soccer games, a pumpkin patch to traipse through, and our church building was the hosting site for the famous Gladys Knight. We were hosting two shows with 700 in attendance for each show. However, the show was cancelled due to the hurricane. The city was placed on a mandatory curfew so church meetings on Sunday were also cancelled. We had two days of playing games and house arrest.
We went on Sunday morning to look for damage. This was all we could find. The boys were very disappointed. They were hoping to need all of the preparations. I was grateful that we didn't need any of it. We pulled out all of the stuff we stowed in the garage and life resumed normally.
On Monday, we drove down to the coast. There was still some mild damage there.
