Moving

We have been hanging out and trying to enjoy our families as much as possible before the big move. We will be in Texas 2 weeks from today. I am trying to stay calm and collected but I am at the point now that I'm ready to just be there so all of my questions can turn in to answers. I'm ready to rip the bandaid. I hate saying goodbye to people too...it is just sad. I will take a few more deep breaths and just trust and have faith that everything is going to be great. I know it will all be fine it is just that constant inner battle. This will be a great experience but I would be lying if I didn't admit I'm a little afraid to move away from my home state. It has been an amazing year as well sharing Joshua with both sets of parents. I love watching them watch Joshua it is truly a treat. Anyway, getting that homesick feeling in the pit of my stomach so this post is over.

Happy 1st Birthday Joshua

My little monkey turned one on Saturday! I honestly can't believe a year has gone by with Joshua already but then sometimes it is hard to remember what life was like without him. I made monkey cupcakes like the one above for all of the party guests. Joshua's had to have blue eyes since that is his most commented on feature.

My computer generated banner....oh how I will miss Matt's paid for school print quota.

Joshua didn't mind having everyone sing happy birthday to him. He even blew out his candle before the desire to grab the candle overwhelmed him.

He had no problems eating the frosting or the cupcake.
After the party, he tried out his new bubble maker bath toy. He had a blast!

This toy was enjoyed the day after the party as Matt realized the "some assembly required" would mean after Joshua is in bed and no longer able to "help" put together his new toy. He also received this black/white cat that he loves. He walked over to the toys, picked up the cat, threw it in the car, and climbed in behind it.
We sent everyone home with this dvd that we made of Joshua's first year. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get this handprint but Joshua decided to cooperate at the last minute. Showing the video to everyone was definitely one of my highlights of the day because it was special to remember precious moments that we have shared with everyone this year. It has truly been an amazing year sharing Joshua with our families. We will definitely miss being so close to them.

Dr. Captain Matt Turek

May 6, 2011 Matt and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We celebrated with a crowd though as this was Matt's graduation day. The family gathered together, and we all watched as Matt traded in his Mr. for Dr. I am so proud of him. Following the ceremony the Surgeon General of the United States who happened to be the commencement speaker then gave the oath of office for all of the military medical students (I mean doctors) :-) to be promoted to Captain. I am proud to be married to a man who wants to help others as a doctor and is willing to make the sacrifices that will come by serving in the military. After the ceremonies we went out to eat and gave Matt a few graduation gifts. Matt surprised me with a beautiful diamond anniversary/graduation ring. He said that he wouldn't have made it on this path of becoming a doctor without me. Heart melted...eyes watered....I LOVE this man!
