The Good in June

Most of my blog posts this month have been in regards to the waiting torture and then the final outcome but amidst the tears life was still happening.  These were the other June happenings.

Bishop's night at girls camp.  Matt is a pretty young bishop up there performing with the other bishops.

The boys went to camp the first week of June.  Nathan was the only little boy in his class but that's because it was "Cooks with Books" BUT my little guy loved every minute.  They cooked and ATE everyday using a book theme.  Think give a mouse a cookie, give a moose a muffin.  The other option for his age bracket was outdoors.  This kid gets too hot for all of that.

Joshua was at Star Wars Science Camp.  No brainer on choosing that option.

The next week the kids went to VBS and loved it.  They enjoyed it more than the paid for camp the week before.

They came home with cute crafts everyday.

Joshua was invited to a baseball birthday party for his best school friend Caden.  He felt pretty cool going off without his Mom.

My "baby" turned 4 on June 17th.  Nathan loves life and makes us laugh everyday.  He is tender and he is wild.  He is BIG in every emotion.  We can't imagine life without this miracle.  He kicked off his special day with his favorite, chocolate milk.

We were lucky enough to ACTUALLY have family around for a birthday.  We were able to get my brother and his girlfriend to come visit us and bring Collin.  Matt and I knew that this little guy would help our very tender "why no baby for us" hearts.

We took everyone to lunch and of course Nathan confidently ordered chocolate milk.  It is his birthday afterall!

My boys love a theme...okay or maybe their mom made them that way.  Paw Patrol food, decor, and games were a lot of fun for our little crew.

Had a moment of happy/sad eye leaking

This cake looks sad but it is exactly what Nathan wanted.  He loved his strawberry cake.  Joshua is NOT a fan of strawberry and Nathan was afraid Joshua wouldn't come to his party so he wanted a cookie cake too.  Well played boys..

The next day was Father's Day.  Matt is sporting his first #1 Dad shirt.  The boys picked it out and just knew Dad would want to wear a mickey shirt since he took them on a Disney cruise.  Matt is officially in the screen printed t-shirt club now.

We continued our week with smiling and then crying and then smiling again.

Finally, Nani, PopPop, and Aunt KiKi arrived late Friday night after driving from Utah.  PopPop and KiKi stayed until Sunday morning and Nani stayed until Wednesday morning.  We enjoyed laughter, hugs, and more distractions.  I also had the opportunity to speak in Stake Conference.  I was asked to speak before the ending of the story took place.  I was then given the opportunity to not speak.  However, I had already written my talk and through a miraculous occurrence I gave my talk about Taylor and the girls without blubbering.

Nani had to go home despite the boys begging her to stay.  So responsible ;-) We found out that the burial in California would be private and that it wasn't a great time for us to come out there.  We cancelled our flights two days before we were supposed to go.  Now, we are regrouping and deciding what to do with these vacation days.  It is 90 and humid today.  California would have been a much better climate for the 4th.  We were able to send a book to the family filled with my blog posts and all of the letters and expressions of gratitude for Taylor's life changing example from other people.  It was therapeutic to create and hopefully a source of peace for them.

In other news for June Joshua lost tooth #2, missing his front two teeth now

Yesterday, we squeezed in a temple trip since we weren't on an airplane as planned.  This is a little selfie nap in the car!  The 2.5 hour car trip turned into 5 as there was wreck after wreck.  The temple is always a good thing to do though and a great way to end the month.

Hopeful that July will bring more healing and happiness to our family.

Love the picture of Matt with all the other old guys ;) Love Nathan's party. Very cute paw print cake and I LOVE that he ate out of a dog dish LOL! So sweet that he was worried his brother wouldn't come to his own party. So glad you've had good family distractions. Thanks for posting, good to know the good life continues for the Tureks even if it's through some tears.
