Nani Came To Visit

Matt picked up his mom Saturday night and our much anticipated spring vacation began.  We coordinated this schedule last year and it couldn't have come a day later.  It has been a tough year and we needed some TLC from Mom and time for each other.

Sunday was church time together.  This day was filled with laughs, yummy food, and lots of game time.

Monday we tried a new restaurant by our house that was delicious.

Tuesday we left Mom with our boys and we went to spend two nights in a B&B.

The view from our room.

The breakfast was superb.  There was no internet and the tv was 20 inches. It was definitely a place to connect with each other while you disconnected from the world of tv and internet.  We exercised, relaxed, shopped, and ate out at our favorite spot, The Gristmill.  The best part was probably not thinking of schedules.  I like to be fun and want to "go with the flow" but that is hard to do when you are responsible for little people and know that abandoning schedules, meal times, and nap times comes with serious consequences.  We did whatever we wanted and didn't worry how long it was taking.  It was wonderful!

Back at home, Nani had a great time caring for the boys.

(Joshua's race car face)

We got a babysitter when we returned and the three adults went to dinner and a movie.  We saw Captain America and all really enjoyed it.  I am so glad we have a reliable sitter so we had the opportunity to go out just the three of us.

Friday we went downtown to the Magik Theater to see Llama Llama.  Joshua loves these rhyming books.  I knew he would love the show.  I was a little worried with how Nathan would be for the hour long performance but knew I could head to an exit if needed.  He loved it!  There were lights, music, and people.  He is such a social baby.  He also figured out clapping this week so he loved anytime the audience would clap.  He joined right in for the fun!

Saturday worked out better than planned.  Matt was scheduled to work 6 to 6 but he was able to come home at 11am!  We had just finished exercising, showering, and were all waiting for Nathan to wake up from his nap.  Nathan woke up and Matt walked in the door.  We were planning on going to Buckee's (a huge Texas appropriate gas station) to try and find something for PopPop that he had been craving.  We were all able to go together.  We were successful and then decided to be spontaneous and drive the 10/15 minutes farther to Gruene.  This is our little getaway from San Antonio.  It was a market day so it was crowded with homemade craft vendors and lots of people exploring.  The weather was perfect and it was fun to show Mom our favorite place on a special event day.

This little dog wanted to be in on the action too.  Nathan didn't mind since he loves dogs.

The Easter Bunny also came Saturday evening and managed to hide baskets upstairs while we were all home!  I thought it was nice for him to come on Saturday while Matt was home from work and Nani was still here.  The boys loved their baskets.

We decorated eggs together and then Nani hid eggs in the backyard.  Joshua in his typical way didn't like that things kept getting in his Crocs so he was finished after one round.

(Today) Sunday we took Nani to the airport and Matt had to go to work.

It is quiet here but I am happy and satisfied.  We did a daily Easter countdown and between that and our Easter Activity I feel that we all really focused on the Savior this Easter.  Joshua can tell me all that Easter is about and even leaned over to me today and said he was thinking of Jesus.  Church was inspiring and I am so grateful for the Savior and the Atonement.

It was a wonderful week with my mother-in-law.  It is a blessing to watch someone else love your children almost as much as you do.

It was a treat to have some alone time with my husband and remember all the reasons why I said yes almost 8 years ago.
