Plane tickets were bought. Car rental reserved. My church assignments were assigned to others. Matt did some wheeling and dealing at work to get schedules realigned. We all enjoyed Memorial Day. It was a casual and relaxed day with the ever present thought that we are going to have a new baby this week!!!!! Tuesday I had a fun day planned as a last hoorah before baby comes.
We went to one of Joshua's favorite places, the children's museum. My mom bought us tickets to go and to take our friends Megan and Ethan too for Joshua's birthday gift. Joshua was thrilled!
I couldn't believe he climbed all the way to the top with all of those other kids. He didn't even hesitate. Who let my little boy grow up?
Well we decided we would go regardless and then we decided we would stay...back and forth.
Finally, we decided to pack and just wait for the news on Wednesday. We would be ready to go but we would just hope the results came early. We received the call Wednesday at 7:30am our time. The lung test indicated immature lungs so no induction. I was obviously a little disappointed that we wouldn't be meeting our son this week. However, how blessed are we that the call came so early?! Plus, it meant that I will be around to help out with several things going on with our primary at church (children's church) this weekend.
So here we are here in San Antonio. Matt is hopeful that the baby's arrival will still work out with the changes he made at work. We moved our tickets with Southwest to the next week. We will wait and see what the doctor says on Monday.
This morning doing my scripture reading by myself and then with Joshua both topics were faith. Isn't that appropriate? We feel confident that Heavenly Father has been directing this entire path. It is in His hands. We are just so grateful that this miracle is occurring in our lives. We are so grateful to the birth family. They are back and forth to the doctor constantly and our poor birth mother is miserable. They are so good about filling us in on every detail and I really appreciate it. We can't wait to meet our son but want him to "cook" for as long as he needs. I have truly become and am still becoming a more relaxed and "go with the flow" person through this journey. Adoption is definitely a lesson in flexibility, faith, and ultimately miracles.
