Birthday Weekend

Friday, my in-laws arrived in Texas!

New toys and new to us boots (Thanks Switzers)

Nathan has officially claimed PopPop as his buddy!

Enjoying the backyard

Nani and PopPop were able to see Joshua play a soccer game while we did our race!

Nathan wanted to make sure PopPop was actually asleep.

After the race and soccer game, we all met up in Gruene to eat at our favorite restaurant, The Gristmill.

There was also some time to kill at Buckee's, a true Texas sized experience.

Nathan loves helping in hide-n-seek.

Joshua helped decorate my Cheesecake Factory, birthday cake.  YUM!  This was one of my best birthdays as a mom.  Birthdays post children can be a little disappointing if you wake up anticipating an easy day that is all about you.  Not this year though!  Even though Matt was working nights and therefore slept most of the day; my family cooked a birthday meal requested by me, decorated a cake, and cleaned up all of the mess.  It was a great day!

My dress and jewelry purchased for my birthday from my in-laws.  I received some giftcards from my parents.  I also received numerous birthday wishes via all of the different media connections.  It was great!

When the grandparents arrived, Nathan was only walking as the mood struck him.  By the end of their trip, he is ONLY walking.  Yay Nathan!

We carved pumpkins.  Joshua was excited to help but not interested at all in the smell or in the gross insides.  He is so funny.

There were window stickers to color.

This was a great way to entertain the kids and tire out PopPop.

Joshua put on his hat and bandanna as soon as he was given the boots.  He then started using his broom as a horse.  Don't worry he had a stick horse by the end of the weekend.  :-)

It was a short but fun visit especially since we hadn't seen them since their short visit in July.  We will see them in a month for Thanksgiving and then in another month for Christmas.  I love the holidays!
