My in-laws arrived Saturday evening just in time for me to go to the church to prepare/serve refreshments for the Women's Broadcast. Matt was still working in Corpus Christi but Rachel was thankfully around to greet and represent our family. The boys apparently both went crazy with excitement. They were still pretty wild when I arrived home. We all visited and eventually got the boys to sleep.
Joshua slept with me on Matt's side of the bed. He was excited to be my sleeping companion. Sometimes, I enjoyed his companionship other times I wasn't sure the King bed was big enough.
Sunday, Matt drove home just for the day because he is super that way. We went to church and enjoyed the day together even though Matt was very sick with a nasty cold.
Monday, we took the kids to meet the Easter Bunny. There are no pictures of this experience because Nathan would wave but screamed if we tried to get any closer. The kids did approve of the train that was next to the Easter Bunny photo opportunity.
After the mall, we HAD to go to Target. Joshua got an icee and Nathan got a scooby-doo juice which he wanted to continue to wash and use as his dog juice.
The kids left with toys and other stylish apparel they selected.
Nani introduced Nathan to the iPad experience.
Tuesday, Nani and PopPop took Joshua to Corpus Christi. They visited with Matt after work Tuesday and Wednesday. During the day time they explored the beach and the USS Lexington.
Back at home, I was able to escort a friend through the temple for the first time. Rachel and I were able to spend some quality time with Nathan and Roxy during the day and just Nathan at night. It was good for all.
Thursday, there was a Chick-Fil-A trip, more toys for kids, clothes and pedicures for the girls, and a temple trip for just Rachel and I. Also, my smart phone arrived. I have finally joined the 21st century.
Friday, Matt came home from Corpus Christi for good! He got up bright and early to be home to spend the whole day. Unfortunately, Matt shared his cold with the boys. Joshua was feeling especially bad but we decided to push through anyway. We started the day on a glass bottom boat tour. As we go to the entrance, Joshua puked and puked some more. He seemed to feel better but sipped on a sprite to help.
The tour was really interesting. I missed the last half of the information because Nathan decided he wanted off. I had to try and convince him that walking out the back door of the boat was not going to work.
From there we went to our favorite destination The Gristmill.
Friday evening, I saw a family sealed in the temple. Three trips to the temple in one week for me. Such a treat!
Nani, PopPop, Joshua, and Matt saw Frozen on Ice.
I think you can tell by his pj choice that he had a good time. He was ready for bed Frozen style!
Saturday, Nani and PopPop delivered some Easter treats and had to get on the road for the long drive home to SC.
They left and we spent the rest of the day listening to General Conference. We did laundry, dyed Easter eggs, and cleaned house.
Sunday morning, the boys woke up and excitedly went downstairs. We reviewed the events leading up to the last week of the Savior's life. We talked about the darkness and sadness of the Saturday before Easter. We went through the 6 resurrection eggs ending with the empty tomb. He is Risen! The Easter Bunny comes to our house to celebrate the good news that He is risen. The boys found their baskets and then went out to find a few bonus eggs.
Rachel surprised me with one of my favorite flowers.
We had a fun and yummy breakfast!
We enjoyed more conference during the day.
That evening we had a yummy dinner. We don't like ham so the 4 years we have lived away from family we have started our own tradition of Easter barbecue. :-) This year with Rachel here too she added deviled eggs and banana pudding. We also had some veggies of some kind for decoration at least.
