July Adventures

After Joshua's baby blessing we all three took off for Atlanta, Georgia for Matt to take one of his medical boards. We were able to visit with some of the family that lived in the area.

The next week of July we all three went to youth conference. I needed to be there since I'm in the stake presidency and Matt and I were speakers for one of the seminars so he needed to come too. We brought Joshua along and he was held and loved on by the other leaders. I don't think I could have gone Wednesday-Saturday without my little guy anyway. He was all smiles the whole trip. He only had a few tear filled moments but overall we had no complaints. The seminar went really well and it was a good experience for Matt and I.

This last week we went to Williamsburg, VA with Matt's parents and one of his sisters. We had a great time and once again the little man was a dream baby. We only had a few feeding/changing/screaming moments along with some scary gas station feeding/changes but that is part of the adventure of vacationing with an almost 3 month old. Surprising, he loved the heat and hated the air conditioning in some of the restored buildings. He is a true SC baby. We did realize however that vacations will never be the same. The ability to go all day doesn't exist and there are moments when you just have to leave....like when we tried to go on a ghost tour and a couple other house tours in Colonial Williamsburg. "Someday" we will go on vacation and bring a babysitter with us. This way we can play with the kids some and then actually be able to go and do some things too where you aren't worried about your child screaming or what they are going to do next. Vacations are a lot of work even with one baby. I can't imagine traveling with 3+ kids. You would need a car just for their stuff.

Anyway, we have been very busy this month but we have loved every minute of it! Joshua smiles all of the time now. He can hold his head up and is trying to "talk" some too. Last night we held him out facing us both and took turns talking to him. He would look at me and listen and then Matt would start talking and he would turn and look at him. We would pause and he would make an ooo or ahh and smile really big and then just wait for me to talk again. It was precious. I love being a mom. Matt starts his next rotation in a week so we are planning on enjoying every minute of this last week of vacation as a family of 3!

you are absolutely right. vacation just doesn't have the same meaning when there's diapers and throw up involved! chris always wants to go somewhere,do something crazy with the kids...i keep shutting it down. he has NO IDEA what a trip with a 5 year old, 2 years old, and 4 months old baby really involves. i am exhausted just thinking about it! lol
looks like you had a blast. enjoy your family time this last week!
